Good to know.

  • Start one new food at a time and wait 3 to 5 days before the next, so you can see how she does.
  • Common allergens like peanut, egg, dairy and sesame can be offered from about six months, alongside other first foods. If she has severe eczema or an egg allergy, check with her pediatrician first.
  • Serve foods soft, mashed or in small pieces, and always stay with her while she eats.
  • No honey, juice or cow's milk to drink before her first birthday. Skip whole nuts and chunks of nut butter.
  • If you notice a reaction after a new food, call her pediatrician. If she has trouble breathing or swelling of her lips, tongue or face, call 911.
